The context
Jolos is one of Estonia’s leading event agencies, known for bringing bold ideas to life. Their philosophy combines creativity with commitment. Every event is unique, and every detail matters. Sustainability has become part of that quality mindset, guiding how events are planned and executed.
Sustinere’s Environmental Expert Susanna Vain has worked closely with Katre Kahre from Jolos to shape the methodological approach for assessing event carbon footprints. Over the years, Jolos has been among the most consistent partners in advancing this work – providing feedback, sharing data, and helping refine the methodology that later evolved into the Event Footprint module within Sustinere Hub.
The pilot project took place at Eesti Kaubanduskeskuste Suvepäevad 2025, an annual sector event organised by Jolos for Viru Keskus. It served as the first real-life application of the digital tool, combining practical event experience with methodological precision. The goal has always been clear: to make sustainability work easier, faster, and more meaningful for both agencies and their clients.
What we delivered
For the Eesti Kaubanduskeskuste Suvepäevad 2025 event, Jolos used the new Event Footprint module to assess and visualise the event’s carbon footprint. Before this pilot, Jolos and Sustinere worked with spreadsheets to calculate results and design visual summaries for clients. Reliable method but time-consuming.
The new tool automates these steps. Partner data from caterers, transport providers, and venues is entered directly into structured forms, covering all key impact categories:
- energy and venue use,
- transport,
- catering and beverages,
- materials, and
- waste.
All event data is stored in one place, ready for review, and results can be generated instantly in a clear, visual format. The tool also allows exporting real-time results! For example, to display the footprint of catering choices during menu planning, or to share live visitor transport statistics during the event.
For Jolos, this meant faster workflows, less manual formatting, and lower costs for clients. Structured data also made it easier to identify which aspects of an event drive its footprint. For example, switching from shrimp to chicken burgers reduced emissions sevenfold.
In their words
“The biggest benefit is structure. Data comes in through clear forms, sits in one place, and the report is ready in moments. It makes the work faster, more effective, and ultimately better value for the client. On top of that, we can always discuss details with local experts at Sustinere and refine the process together.”

What’s next
For Jolos, sustainability is no longer an add-on but a built-in element of event excellence. The agency plans to continue applying the Event Footprint tool in collaboration with Sustinere for new and recurring clients.
By combining data with creative planning, Jolos helps prove that memorable events can also be responsible ones. By showing where every choice counts, and where impact can be reduced without compromise.
