Introduction to Climate Risk Assessment

Identify the climate risks that matter and build the data foundation to assess them.

The first session introduces the core elements of climate-risk assessment and helps participants understand where to begin.

The focus is on:

  • identifying relevant physical and transition risks,
  • mapping risk drivers across sectors, and
  • understanding how climate hazards connect to specific business contexts.

Participants will learn what data is needed for assessment, where to find it, and how to structure the work in a way that supports clear analysis.

The session also covers setting boundaries such as time perspectives, geographic scope, and value-chain dependencies, along with practical guidance on securing internal alignment.

Assessing Climate Risks

Evaluate your climate risks with structured methods and understand how scenarios shape future exposure.

The second session focuses on evaluating climate risks using structured methods.

Participants explore:

  • vulnerability, sensitivity, and exposure, and
  • learn how to move from a broad long list of risks to a focused short list.

The session covers:

  • likelihood and impact scoring,
  • key parameters that influence each, and
  • how to use templates to support consistent assessment.

A key part of the session is an introduction to scenario analysis.

Participants learn how to choose relevant reference scenarios, how future climate conditions shape exposure, and how to apply scenario analysis step by step within a climate-risk assessment.

Managing Climate Risks

Turn assessment results into practical actions that strengthen resilience and guide strategic decisions.

The final session focuses on turning assessment results into practical risk-management actions.

Participants learn the core principles of:

  • climate-risk management,
  • including how to identify and prioritise adaptation and mitigation measures, and
  • how to think about resilience in a long-term, strategic way.

The session also covers stress testing and the role of metrics and targets in steering progress.

The goal is to give participants a clear understanding of how climate-risk insights feed into broader business and risk-management processes, enabling more confident and informed decisions.
